That's the only one I've not bothered - yet! - to pick up from the
Independent Foreign Fiction Prize shortlist. But I've certainly heard good things about it. And Verhaeghen must be committed to have written the book in Dutch and then effectively write it all over again, in English translation: all six hundred pages of it.
