Default Re: Murray Bail: The Pages

I am very late into this commentary......but......I finished The Pages last night and must say I wished I had read matt.todd's commentary before I started it. I'm afraid the plot development just completely disintegrates in the latter half of the book -- character development may have started disappearing just before or after that, but proceeds to get worse at about the same pace. In the end, a very disappointing book.

On a positive note, as a Canadian, this was the first Harvill-Secker published book that I bought and, as someone who loves good hardcover books, it was very well done (Random House has in imprint in North America -- Bond Street -- that produces similar high quality volumes). And I think it had my "best cover" for books published in 2008. So all is not lost. Serves me right for buying a book because of its cover.
