Yasushi Inoue (May 6, 1907 ? January 29, 1991) was a Japanese writer whose range of genres included poetry, essays, short fiction, and novels.

I was wandering if you eard of him or read any of his books. In checking both English(few line) and French wikipedia (full page),i was made aware of the gap in his popularity.Amazon has much more on him, even if most of the books a not available.

I read two of his books The blue Wolf is a novel based on the life of gengis khan and his very well writen..Wind and waves of the war betwin Japan and korea(whitch exact period?)is is also very good.

I think there is one more widely distributed called The hunting Rifle...

One of his novels has been adapted by Aki Kurosawa- Furin kazan-whitch is not helping much, unless your fluant in Japanese.

Read both The Hunting Rifle and the Death of a Tea Master. Reviewed both here:

s*: Shadows: Yasushi Inoue’s “Der Tod des Teemeisters” and “Das Jagdgewehr” (http://shigekuni.blogspot.com/2009/01/shadows-yasushi-inoues-der-tod-des_22.html)

The Death of a Tea Master may not have been translated into English yet, but it's been translated into French, as Le Maitre de Th?, so no excuses here, Thomas!

Interesting review Mirabell, specialy in that when starting a novel by Inoue,we don't know on which foot to dance. It take a while to get into the rythm. It happen to me when reading Le sabre des Takeda,i was half way through when i grasp the subtility of the tale.
I have been very curious about the hunting rifle for some time, but le Maitre de th? will be read in time.I have Kakuzo Okakura Le book of thea.
I shall recommend you le loup bleu, the blue wolf on the life of Gengis khan, the best Inoue i read so far.
