I stumbled upon this site:
The Literature Network: Online classic literature, poems, and quotes. Essays & Summaries (http://www.online-literature.com/)
The site looks interesting and I am considering to join that forum as well. I noticed, though, that it is possibly run by the same company. Am I right?
Excuse the comparison with this one: They seem to have a lot more members than this site. I wonder why.
As far as I know, this site is only run by one person (Stewart) and has nothing to do with Online Literature. What makes you think otherwise?
I'm not aware of a connection of both sites, but I read occasionally on the Litnet forums (am not registered there, though). Most people there seem to be entirely focussed on anglophone literature, and praise it above everything else, even though they are often monoglots and not aware of other traditions. This forum has more open-minded members who read in several languages and I greatly prefer it to Litnet.
One major difference is surely that the World Literature Forum is run from the UK, while The Literature Network is run from the USA.

There's no connection whatsoever. I started up this site in April 2008 because, being a member of many book forums around the net, I wanted one that was tailored more to my growing interest in world literature and, there not being one there, I bought the domain, took on a vBulletin license, and almost 1? years on, this is the result. A few hiccups along the way - spammers, hackers, etc - but overall it's working out well, I think, mixing a huge range of writers and, while trying to remain organised, not ghettoising writers by genre. But, yes, a one man operation overall, with some help on the side from Bjorn (above).
