The other day it dawned on me, what our dear Stewart has actually managed to do by making this site.

I must admit at first when the site was up, I couldnt see the vision of bringing all the world?s literature together on one site.

But now I do!

I see that via literature, Stewart has actually made it possible for us, to get in touch with the knowledge of other places and cultures around the whole world. We may get to read books from countries we would never dream of before cause we would not have done a search by ourselves.

Someone may write a review of a book we have never heard of and therefore lead us to a new author, a new culture and a new country.

To me that makes Stewart the best visionary of how to intergrate understading of other cultures, nations, religions etc. He has provided the tools and this may be a side effect to his own vision, but what a great one indeed!

Here we talk together from all parts of the world, discussing books and authors, but also we get to learn about each other and the places where we live.

One great example of this cultural exchange: When Bjorn made a brilliant review of Paulo Coelho "The alchemist" and a teacher, Hani, in Pakistan took that review to her class! :D

So thank you, Stewart!

I think it was about time, someone mentioned this and acknowledge the vision you had, right from the start!

Oh no,thank him all you want,i'm not.

All the time i spend in here when i could be doing some usefull stuff, like working or enjoying myself.Even reading.

Yeah thanks you indeed !

And my wife is not talking to me anymore because she think i'm watching porn like a maniac.

And all those bloody new books i never heard of,unkown authors from tiny countries, the money gone for stupid literature.
Before i was happy with just few name,i thought i had base.
All this gone,uncertainty and fear.

Thank you Stewart for ruining my familly life, for cutting short my quality time, for ruining me,for unsecurity.
For making me a slave of the net.

Be damn .

...my wife is not talking to me anymore because she think i'm watching porn like a maniac...
You've probably got that going too--in another browser window!!! :p

Damn masturbators, they crop up everywhere these days. Get off line, pop into the shower where no one can see you, and help yourself--

But seriously--I think we all need to chip in and buy Stewart a huge gift. Like a stuffed pink elephant--or a book certificate perhaps--would that be more to his liking?

(Stewart, if I were you, I'd go for the elephant...)

Cheers,
L

This forum is not good for people who are mildly obsessive-compulsive. Because of this forum I spend more time than than ever making lists of books I should read and then breaking them up into categories. And they just keep getting longer!

I vote we give him a plush Cthulhu for his multi-tentacular grasp on world literature. I favour the Santa variant myself.

That's for Bjorn.Big time.
I've already got one, so Stewart can keep it. I don't know what happens when you get two Cthulhus in one room, but I'm not sure I want to find out.
