View Full Version : The Tudors, the TV series
I have just recieved 2 DVDs with The Tudors, season 1 + 2.
The TV serie was shown over here but only the first season. :( Stupid Danish TV station.
I simply loved the acting, the story, the costumes, the plotting etc. etc. and now I see there are two more seasons. Great, then I have more to look forward to! :)
This goes well together with my wish for Hilary Mantel's book "Wolf hall", which is on top of my christmas wishlist!
Anyone else enjoying this series?

My dear, I hope you do realize that this is pseudo-history! :p
However, I agree: The Tudors is a highly enjoyable series, with beautiful actors and a rather clever storyline. The bed-sequences: a HUGE PLUS!
Dont worry, Liam
I dont fool myself thinking this is an exact version of the real history. I take it as a kind what it could look like and with a full knowledge that the writers have taken their liberties etc.
Earlier this fall, I watched a serie of history programmes about Britain, done by a real historian. And it was quite interesting too, even though you didnt have the actors, the beautiful costumes and as you say the hot bed-sequences...:) Only thing which was a shame with the series, was that it was showing history over a wide spand of years, so therefore you didnt get many details, but he did show you around to different places etc. and yes Cromwell was mentioned several times.

I kind of gave up on it around season 3 when they stopped keeping up the soapy aspect of the series which had made it so much fun. I still watch it from time to time when I come across it on TV. If the writers had wanted to take things seriously they should have made it clear from the beginning.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill are very good looking men, however, completely miscast as the older versions of their characters.

Yes I agree with you that Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a wee bit young and too good looking for playing Henry VIII, but oh well, its a kind of a fantasy...and no complaining on my part for his appearance..:p

I thought the first two seasons were fantastic, but then I lost interest after Anne Boleyn, played by the smashing Natalie Dormer.

The first season is my favourite too, by a mile. :)
