I am so excited! I picked up my textbooks for the upcoming semester. I had already purchased The Norton Anthology for the literature class I am taking.Today I got my textbook for philosophy. It looks pretty interesting. It looks a lot like "stuff" I have gone over in other classes. A lot of history, and talk about God. Maybe it's a textbook that looks at philosophy from a Christin perspective. I am attending a Christian college. The name of the book is "A Brief Guide to Ideas", by Linda Edwards. I like it because it is small. Some textbooks (like the Norton Anthology) can look really intimidating because of their size.
Another textbook I have is "The Reluctant Welfare State, American Social Welfare Policies: Past, Present, Future". It has to do with my social work major. Again, it looks like a lot of "stuff" I have seen before. My only other textbook is "Walk, Jog, Run", by Patricia Floyd. I have to take a phys ed class, and "Walk, Jg, Run" appealed to me. I used to love to jog before my age started catching up with me. (I am 47). I don't care though. I am taking the class, and I am going to jog! We have the choice between walking, jogging, and running. I can't run because of my age and health, and walking is too boring, so I'm going to jog if it kills me (which it probably will). The book looks interesting. It covers things like picking the right shoes, stretches to do, training programs for a 5K, 10K, and marathon, and information on diet. It's a rather small book as well so my reading load shouldn't be too heavy, other than the literature class. Thank God!
I am so excited! I cannot wait for classes to begin, and yet I am enjoying the time off. Tonight I am going to an AA meeting.
Thanks for letting me ramble.
