Berlin International Literature Festival 2008

...Or Internationales Literaturfestival Berlin, to give it the name the website declares (http://www.literaturfestival.com/index.php?changelang=3). It starts today, runs until the 4th October, and it has quite an extensive list of names (http://www.literaturfestival.com/index1_3_5.html), some well known, some known, and others completely new. Always nice that.

I agree that there's a nice sprinkling of names from different languages, continents, countries and cultures. I hope this kind of international literary festival wafts over to Britain in the near future. If Germany can do it, so can Britain. Imagine such a spread in genteel Cheltenham, or in Hay.

As with Stewart, a handful of the names are familiar, though most are new to me.
