"The writer interweaves a story with his own doubts, questions, and values. That is art."

~ Naguib Mahfouz (1911 - 2006)

Default Re: Bove reviews

My Friends is one of my favourite books of the year so far: I was a bit disappointed by this review because a) it got in first (which is my fault) and b) it wasn't positive enough. Really wonderful writing, somewhat akin to Beckett / Calvino (in his more sentimental mode - Marcovaldo, for instance). My copy says Beckett was a fan, along with Colette and Rainer Maria Rilke. What more do you need to know?
