"Do not read, as children do, to amuse yourself, or like the ambitious, for the purpose of instruction. No, read in order to live."

~ Gustave Flaubert (1821 - 1880)

Most real foringers try to adheer, no, adhear, oh all right then, stick to the rules of speling something pedantic.

One thinks that one should adopt a modicum of basic education, before one starts discussing highfalutin subjects such as the literacity of literature.
OK, if you say so. I just translate. We can't all be Irvine Scots, the greatest plukey cunt that the country of Wendy has ever seen...

Sorry, that should have been "the greatest plukey cunt this side of Barnsley".

Don't blame Eric for picking up great phrases from great literature. Next week, I'm going to derive some vocabulary from the beach poems of Andrew Motion.

Piecrust is closely related to Darren Pretzel, whose work was reviewed on another thread. Whether Piecrust is a man, woman or hermaphrodite remains to be seen. During its short life, Piecrust has already learnt with great aplomb how to write the first person singular pronoun with a capital letter. It has other talents. It is now in detox for SMS addiction, and will be going on a punctuation course during the coming weeks.

Over and misuse of capital letters is rife, unfortunately. I seem to spend a vast amount of my time taking copy and removing all the unnecessary capital letters. And then there's apostrophes and the inability to comprehend the difference between 'of' and 'have'.

I see .......hilarious,Eric.
So that Piecrust (giggle, giglgle) is a cousin of mine, the mislead one who choose to write.I knew my handicap so i toke to painting which does not ask a lot on the spelling side.Unfortunatly for the like of yours i could not refrain from a desire to communicate about my passion for book.
I never could write propely and never will. Some got used to it,some does not,the big advantage of this forum is the ignore option that could spare your eyes and brain to witness such a disgrace.

Darren Pretzel and Piecrust,(giggle ,giggle) ,such a sharp sense of humour,Eric.

Now, Mr. Thomas, who would want to put you on "ignore"? I love your posting style...it reads with a French accent, and Americans just love French accents!

Having been around forums far too long, I've seen many people who are simply lazy posters, others who are weak spellers, and still others whose flexibility with grammar and punctuation is part of their posting style -- that lower case "i" reflects their personality, like an emoticon, but less intrusive. I say judge not by spelling, grammar, and punctuation, but by the content and meaning of the post. I've seen some people with very good grammar post some pretty awful things around the web. I'll take your creative spelling over that any day.

I wouldn't worry, Thomas.

Some people's postings are all style and no substance.

I can't believe I'm going to do this, but...

That similar conversation is now available at a desktop or laptop near you at Bookbabble - podcast for booklovers everywhere! Look for Episode 12.

This isn't a case of shameless self-promotion. The four young people behind Bookbabble are really terrific, their project is very entertaining, and I hope one or two of you give it a try. Just ignore the loud brassy blonde.
