I believe you and if anyone listens to me, I will vouch for Diane's existence as separate from titania's. I know them both. Via Internet, granted, but unless I am a major idiot, I am certain they are not the same. And it's heinous to compare either to Syb.

Yes. I was joking, too. Damn. Forgot this one:
![]() but I am serious about Diane and titania. They're different persons. I know both of them.

What did you do, Stewart, you bad-boy, drop an ice-cube down Colette's blouse so that you could fish it back out again? ![]() How I detest such hooliganism! Cheers, L

And in case there is any doubt - I am me. I have known myself since I was a young boy and can vouch for the fact that I am me alone and no other person. Oh yes.
![]() Now actually I found the exercise of choosing the favourite 50 books to be very interesting as it forced me to look back over many different aspects of my life and how different sorts of books (by no means all literature) had influenced them and slowly over the years made me what I am today. A sad, old, grey haired, leftie, folkie, literature nut type person. Yeah!

Wow Mirabell I am impressed - I have only ever been considered to be an extremely minor idiot.
But I have ambitions! Indeed I do! ![]() Did you see what I did there? Using silliness in a self effacing attempt to defuse unpleasantness? My advice re Colette would be "Don't feed the trolls"

No offence, but I'm glad I can't say the same, as I differ with each moment, I'm changed by everything and everyone I see, hear, touch, etc, and the Tony Shaw I was at birth, in childhood, maturity, etc, are all very different people. When I joined this forum I called myself Lionel after Lionel Britton, as most other people seemed to adopt different names and I thought I'd join them. If I say something crazy I can always hide behind a name, and say it was either Lionel or Tony wot done it, sir, but I don't think I ever have done, as that's just an excuse, so why should I split myself in two? That's insane, because I'm not two people, I'm millions of different people, constantly, gloriously changing with every moment I live. Names don't really mean much, but they at least anchor us to reality (whatever that weird thing is) and they give us a rough guide when we talk about people. But, as Liam never said, it's a slippery tool, identity.

I believe Liam was talking about vocabulary and Lionel (followed by Eric, who should have known better!) made it sound like... what Liam's boyfriend hides below the treasure-line.
Oh yeah, and then there was also the anality of the loophole, courtesy of Eric's truly fathomless and eclectic imagination... I had fun reading your comments, though, guys: for a moment you were both 5!!! ![]() Cheers, L

None taken. I was being very flippant and silly (it's a gift). And now you've gone all profound. I see your game!
I see what you mean - up to a point. We are all constantly changed by our experiences - mostly I suppose in quite trivial ways and now and again we are hit by major crises or traumas that really knock us into a different shape. And not just bad things the falling in love and watching you first daughter being born sort of things as well. And i suppose you are right - to be changed is to be alive. Sid isn't my name (thank God) its David but Ramblingsid has been my adopted name all over the internet for quite a lot of years now - and its a name that I am comfortable with. But its still me - a little more exuberant and excitable and exaggerated and some other words beginning with ex than I am in so called real life - but fundamentally I am as daft as I appear here - and to be honest I hope that doesnt change
