Well you would be wrong sir

However I have ordered it along with some other books from Amazon this past weekend..

I will certainly check out the Civil War book you mentioned as well. It will take some doing to better Antony Beevor's chronicling of the war, Paul Preston also produced more succinct but equally enthralling work on the conflict.

I'd just like to say that few of us have explored as much of world literature as many of the people here have. In other words, you'll fit right in.

    Glad to hear it

Which one the silent version of Kinski/Herzog version?

I wouldn't say I was familiar, but I know the names; the only one I've ever read is The Fire Cat. Why do you ask?

Just that you mentioned children's literature and I am reading some Jenny Linsky stories right now at the behest of my boyfriend.

As to Nosferatu, I meant the original silent, never seen the newer one.

On the subject of children's books, a few of my favorites:

Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen.
Roald Dahl, esp. James and the Giant Peach
A book by Eugene Ionesco called Story No. 1
    Winnie the Pooh
The Madeline books, the Babar books, Tintin
Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson
    Dr. Desoto by William Steig

I also love the Swallows and Amazons books
    The Little Prince

That'll have to do for now.

I loved James and the Giant Peach.
Also Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and
Beverly Cleary's books especially The Mouse and the Motorcycle.

Funny, much though I love them, I never really think of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass as children's books.

Oh, another favorite: The Velveteen Rabbit ... also just about every Beatrix Potter book. Beverly Cleary, although I know of her, is pretty much terra incognita to me; in that stage of reading apprenticeship I was more likely to have my nose into one of the Borrowers books (or the Molesworth books, my first and rather baffling encounter with the British sense of humor)

    Nigeria Re: Introduce yourself

Can I first of all say that I am finding it quite difficult to upload my picture here. I believe it has something to do with my browser. Is there a way this little problem can be solved from your end there, please? Let me just thank you in advance, for the audience at least.

Well, em, my name is Emmanuella. I am a West African, currently residing in Nigeria, a Nigerian by birth. I entered the world of writing at the age of twelve with 'once-upon-a-time' short stories that I gathered into a small notebook, all pencilled though some a bit illegible, with stars stickers on the front my English teacher gave me to indicate how good those stories were. I was in Vienna, Austria, by then. I also write poetry and stage-plays as well.

I'm not published yet (in book form) but I have sent my works out (poems, most of all) to one newspaper and a couple of online magazines and an african writers' website: ANA Abuja celebrate Maiwada, Okenyodo | Writers Lodge.

I am a maniac reader as well, Stewart, (one never writes without reading anyway) but because of the menial job I do now (admin officer in a co-operative society) and because of a few job-switching, my reading and writing have suffered a bit.

I am glad to have joined this forum, for it is an opportunity to stretch out to the world. I may not constantly be online, but I'll do the best I can when I am. Thank you for your audience.

Hello! Brian from Brooklyn, New York City here. Glad to be here. The forum looks very rewarding based upon the little browsing I have done.

Far from the fastest reader (and my to-read pile next to me illustrates that). Hope to learn a lot here and meet some interesting people.
