Thread: Erico Verissimo: The Time and the Wind

  1. Brazil Erico Verissimo: The Time and the Wind

I just finished The Continent, the first volume of Verissimo's saga The Time and the Wind and I am looking forward to the other volumes.

Anybody else read this book or other Verissimo novels?

I realize nobody replied to this thread. Am I the only who read The Time and the Wind? In its genre (the historical novel), I found it to be a masterpiece.

Jorge Amado in the book preface praised it and said he does not know of a more important work in the genre in Brazil.

Hey man, it's one of my favorities. When I read it (long time ago) I was attonished by the way Verissimo told the history of Rio Grande do Sul throught the families: Cambará e Terra.

    Have you already finished it?
    It's still an amazing book.
If you're interested there're two book about "The time and the wind" called "Captain Rodrigo" and "Ana Terra". I don't know if they're translated to English.,.. but
