Scotiabank Giller Prize 2011

The shortlist for the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize (excellence in Canadian fiction) was just announced a few minutes ago:

- David Bezmozgis - "The Free World"
- Lynn Coady - "The Antagonists"
- Patrick deWitt - "The Sisters Brothers"
- Esi Edugyan - "Half-Blood Blues"
- Zsuzsi Gartner - "Better Living Through Plastic Explosives"
- Michael Ondaatje - "The Cat's Table"

The prize will be awarded on November 8th.

deWitt 0-for-2 on the big prizes he was nominated for thus far. Have to think he's probably going to be in line for the G-G. (Although the selection processess are mutually exclusive, and, of course, judged independently.)
