    Default Not always Catholics...

Two articles in the press recently mention the subject of child abuse. We've heart a lot about dodgy Catholic priests in the UK and Ireland, but there are, on occasion, other people who indulge. So you have to be careful when automatically associating one religion with sexual abuse:

What about Protestants, Jews, and Hindus? Any bad eggs there?

Yeah, this has been happening in the Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn:

    Also very recent.

I'm probably the only one around here, these days

I dont think it has anything to do with the religion, bad eggs are everywhere. Having said that, Hindu priests are not expected to maintain celibacy, hence that may not be the cause.

I suppose that celibacy may cause people to bottle up their sexuality so that it comes out in odd and unexpected ways. There must be monks, priests, and similar who genuinely respect celibacy, but also people who didn't know what they were letting themselves in for and cannot now escape from their jobs, their future pensions, etc., so they maintain decency on the surface, but cannot keep their promise. I knew someone who was training to become a Catholic priest when I was at university some forty years ago, but who is now happily married, by all accounts.
