Thread: Attack forum?

  1. #1

    Default Attack forum?

Sometimes when I log into this forum from my PC (but not from my Mac, interestingly) I get an error message which I have to bypass saying that it is an "Attack site" and may have malicious code which will damage my computer. This has only started in the last week or so. Nothing actually seems to happen when I bypass it and have a browse but thought it's worth Stewart being aware of.

Not getting this, but have been sent a screenshot of this. I know what I'm doing this weekend. Damn.

Please tell me what web browsers you are using.

Malware threat neutralised and forum software updated to latest version. Google can't detect malware on the site any more and the browser no longer has any issues. Think that's it fixed. Still a few updates to correct, but business as usual now.

Well, whatever or whoever caused the problem, I'm glad the WLF is back on air, so to speak.

Thanks. It took ages of hunting through the site's many templates to find the one where someone appears to have done what's called a SQL Injection, whereby they've exploited some legacy element of the software and gained access to the database. Hopefully the updates to the software will fix that gap and I'll try to keep up each single update as it happens.

What kind of ANIMAL would do that to us though?

On second thought, I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of our ex-members. Some of them were gloating just the other day about the "evil place being thankfully off limits," the ungrateful bastards and sods that they are.

I'm no longer a member of the place where they presently congregate, otherwise I would have told them to stick their comments where the sun don't shine.

In all likelihood it was a Chinese spammer/hacker. Plus, as far as I know, it's not the only forum to suffer such an event recently. Effectively they had inserted hidden links to naughty sites.

    Define "naughty," .

Yeah, I wouldn't mind for the Woods to go down in a blaze, LOL. Though Erik probably doesn't deserve it.

Is it just me or is China growing increasingly pesky by the hour???

Oh, I thought the forum is closed for ever. Nice to see and hear from you again, members.) Stewart, thanks a lot for reviving the forum. It's a unique one. As to the malfunctions I would add my point of view. These are just suppositions of mine and I don't claim they are true. Firstly, I guess it all deals with the matters we discuss here. They are uneasy ("naughty", as Stewart wisely said) for some (I may only suspect for whom). I wouldn't even state it's a Chinese hacker - it's a hacker from location of China 'cause we don't know who stands behind the curtain. Liam, I know you were emotional to call the person(s) ANIMAL. It is not correct as well. I don't think it is an ex-member or even a live member. I want to think of people in a good way. We all contribute to the site despite different and versatile views. When I googled and I saw the warning against visiting the forum and I imagined those people (not regular visitors) who tend to believe such warnings. They do not visit. I wouldn't if I don't know. Lately, I've seen on the WLF all kinds of unrelated commercial ads that could bring the malicious code. It's the task of moderators (sorry), I think, to neutralise immediately the "intruders" and inform all the rest and admin. Pardon, if it seemed to you as a "conspiration theory". And change your passwords here. I do hope that other members will soon come back.

Thanks for that. I thought the red was a bit too bright and wanted something a bit more subdued. And a change of colour. Glad it's considered pleasing. Will work on it some more to fix icons and the like and get it consistent throughout.

    Very true.

I agree here, too. Whatever people may think of the forum in other locations, it's not really my concern. I'm interested to know what people's problem with the site is. I've heard people complain about other members, but the forum has an Ignore feature, which is simple enough to use.

Actually, no, most people are animals and that's an insult to animals. So tough tittie, Three Trees, but I'll say it again, . And again and again and again. Some people have no business calling themselves human beings, not least of all Chinese hackers.

    Message to any attackers:
