Thread: New Look

  1. #1

    Default New Look

Following the last few years' red forum, I've decided to tone it down a bit and will be spending some time trying to get a calmer feel and improving the user experience, where I can. As you will see, there have been some changes made already, and I hope to implement more in the short term. As I go, I'd appreciate your feedback on any changes noticed. It may be that certain elements do not work across different browsers or screen resolutions, so would appreciate any comments in this direction. Plus general comments on how it's looking, or other suggestions that would improve the experience.

I like the new look as well. Wasn't it blue before? Before it went red? I remember that it used to look different some time ago.

It's always been red, white, and black. Initially it was op thin width with a fuzzy black line and photos along the top of writers with quotes by them. Then it was upgraded more or less to what it was before. There was one period where the forum software was updated and all the templates reverted to the default blue, before I customised it red once more. That short blue period may be what you rememeber.

I'm sad that you didn't pick purple, my favorite color, .

I also think that the red in WORLD LITERATURE FORUM on top is quite disharmonious. Why don't you make it blue, albeit of a different shade? Perhaps a very light baby-blue, or something bordering on silver gray? Blue and red don't go together at all. Red and green do, but not blue and red.

My other complaint (shit, here we go) is that when you embed a link within the body of the text, it no longer shows (it showed red, before)--now a reader would have no idea that a certain word or phrase was embedded, so to speak, unless they placed their mouse-arrow on that word or phrase. Any way we can fix this?

It's all going to be fixed. As I say above, you'll see changes day to day as I fix things.

Blue and red. Have any of you noticed that in Britain red tends to mean socialist, and blue conservative. But in the States, blue is the colour (sorry, color) of the Democrats, and the Republicans sport red. So this change of colour can mean all things to all men (oh, and women).

I second Liam's embedded mouse shit complaint about the invisible link.

Blue is cooling, red symbolises anger. Perhaps with the new blue you'll all chill out.

I generally like thw new look with the blue palette of colours. A bigger shade contrast between read and unread threads would be welcome.

One bug, at least on my PC. When I log in I land directly on this very page rather than on the general Forum. Is it now meant to be this way? If not, can you fix it?

Can anyone else confirm this problem?

^Nope, but the WORLD LITERATURE FORUM caption is back to red today, after being blue yesterday. What's wrong?

    I concur that.

Other than that everything is ok, no problems such as Liam and Stiffelio have.

The strangest shit: when I view the forum page from my laptop, the caption is blue, when I view it from my PC, it is still red. Why is that?

What do you mean by 'the caption'?

It could just be that your PC browser cache needs updated.

I mean the WORLD LITERATURE FORUM in the top left-hand corner, in big red letters, Stewie, .

How do I update the said cache?

Sorry, you're talking to a dinosaur here. I study medieval literature for a living.

Try looking through your browser's menu for an option to Emtpy Cache, or some such.
