United Kingdom Kitty Aldridge: A Trick I Learned From Dead Men

Here's my Kitty Aldridge review from today's Independent on Sunday:

Also, R my eyesight is so crap that I've just realised that all these months that I thought the Union Jack flag below must be missing some of its diagonal lines radiating out from the cross, I've actually been clicking a flag that isn't the Union Jack at all. I just looked in the second column snd found the UJ there. *Embarrassed*

I think you hit the right flag most of the time, though you may have taken the Icelandic one once. (Did you learn this flag thing from dead men, by the way?) Anyway, I'll now have a look at your review.

Thanks, Eric. I had always assumed the Union Jack would be one of the first ones in the selection, so I ticked the one in the first column which I thought looked a bit like a Union Jack but more like the St George's cross bit without the St Andrew's cross part. And I clicked this for loads of books. I only looked in the second column for the first time when posting this review up. But there is no doubt my flag knowledge is abysmal too. If the beography O level had been based on flag recognition, I would have failed. And having a mixture of long-standing short sightedness and short-standing longsightedness doesn't help either.

Flags. Oh dear. Let's get back to literature. Flagophilia is for the politically inept. Let's return to novels.
