Now then, Flinnt, don't get stroppy with Uncle Liam.

When is the Booker announcement, anyway?

And Hilary Mantel wins the Man Booker Prize. Never read anything about by her and I don't care much for this particular award but I found some good reviews of her books on this forum so I might read her eventually.

I know I will sound like Eric, but I just don't feel interested at all in reading Mantel. Probably she's an amazing writer and it's my loss, but I'm not curious at all in her books.

Strange isn't it, she doesn't light any fireworks for me either, but that means nothing, I'm sure she's an excellent writer. Bizarrely, I've not seen much TV coverage of this announcement, but it will probably pop up on the late News.

Don't beat yourself to hard for this . She wouldn't have raised my curiosity if not favorable reviews of her work on WLF. I take them more seriously then the Man Booker Award.

Mantel on winning her second Booker: "I was absolutely astonished."

Good for her. I wonder if she'll manage to climb out of the sandbox now!

Hamlet, I'm not sure what that expression means. Does it mean get more attention?

Have a quick look at Liam's earlier post with respect to the current state of British Fiction, and it's myopic world view!

I said often, not always, and Mantel wasn't implicated in this, . She may very well be the greatest storyteller you currently have, although admittedly her handling of the material is a wee bit conservative.
