    Russia Yevgeny Yevtushenko (1932-2017)

    https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...bi-yar-dies-84

The Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko has died today, aged 84 years old. I haven't read any of his work but for a long time he was mentioned as a possible Nobel recipient (this seemed unlikely given his lack of recent publications).

After the passing of Michel Butor in the summer of 2016 Yevgeny Yevtushenko was the last living person whose Nobel nomination had been made public. In 1963 he was nominated by Konrad Bittner from the University of Mainz in Germany. What do those of you who have read him say? Could you have seen him as a Nobel laureate?
