    Chile Nicanor Parra (1914-2018)

The ancient master of poetry has finally passed away. I thought death had already forgotten him, that antipoetry was indeed the key for eternal life. I was right. He will be eternal.
Rest in peace good old poet.

Your love of this man's work has many a time pushed him onto my TBR list - though he has far too much company there. But now, with his death, I suppose I best put a bit more effort into finding him and reading him. Where should somebody start? Is there a collection that you have particularly loved?

Hard to tell if you're reading him in English. Collections and anthologies are way different from language to language depending on the editors. If you want to read him in Spanish, Poemas para combatir la calvicie is a very good anthology of his whole poetic career.

Many in the literary world considered Parra superior to Neruda.

I think he is superior than Neruda. Not only as a poet, but as an artist. His artefactos are very clever and delightful to watch.

^Thank you for the link, Isa. A great portrait, I must say, of a very difficult man. I say this without judging, as most great artists happen to be very difficult people,
