Transcendentalism

Ben Jackson

Well-known member
Transcendental is a belief in the inherent goodness of people and nature; while society and its institutions are corrupt, Transcendentalists believe in purity of man and believe that man is at his best when he's truly self-reliant and independent. They see physical and spiritual phenomenas as part of divine processes rather than discrete entities. They were influenced by Romantic movement, Immanuel Kant, Emmanuel Swedenborg, Jakob Boheme, Hume, J Gottfried Herder, Fredeich Schleurmacher and Hindu texts like The Upanishads.
