Berlin International Literature Festival 2008

...Or Internationales Literaturfestival Berlin, to give it the name the website declares. It starts today, runs until the 4th October, and it has quite an extensive list of names, some well known, some known, and others completely new. Always nice that.

Any news stories relating to the event can go in this thread.

I agree that there's a nice sprinkling of names from different languages, continents, countries and cultures. I hope this kind of international literary festival wafts over to Britain in the near future. If Germany can do it, so can Britain. Imagine such a spread in genteel Cheltenham, or in Hay.

As with Stewart, a handful of the names are familiar, though most are new to me.
