Famous Serbian writer of Sephardic Jewish descent David Albahari has died today at the age of 75 in Belgrade.
He lived in Canada from 1994 to 2012, and was born in Kosovo.


There was a thread about him on this board, so I guess there are people who read him.

Indeed. I was/am one of them. The only one I can recall off the top of my head was Götz and Meyer, a book I did not like at all. I also recall that he was a fairly prolific writer. This is sad news; thank you for posting it.

Maybe it should. Just think how exciting it would be to love the book and find out I'm wrong!

The thing is, I really liked it. Introduced me to a sliver of history I was not aware of, and using the real life Götz and Meyer, of whom history records only their names, felt like a perfect starting point to unravel that history and get to the heart of the actions from that time.
