"After six months of evaluations and the dissemination of the 41 semifinalists, the Oceans – Prize for Literature in Portuguese announces the ten finalist books of the 2023 edition. Included in the list are five works of poetry and five works of prose by authors of three different nationalities – Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal –, published by four Brazilian and FIve Portuguese publishers. From the list of finalists, the two winners of the – award there will be one for poetry and the other for prose.

In the case of the poetry, four books by Brazilian authors and one by a Portuguese author were selected. The jury included Brazilians André Capilé, Annita Costa Malufe, Antonio Carlos Secchin, and Veronica Stigger, and Portuguese Joana Matos Frias. In the case of prose, three novels by Portuguese authors and two by Cape Verdeans were selected. The jury included Brazilians Ana Paula Maia, Michel Laub and Regina Zilberman, Portuguese Carlos Reis and Mozambican Francisco Noa.
