I'm not really worried about how this publication affects García Márquez's literary reputation. I think that's pretty safe at this point.
If Memories of My Melancholy Whores didn't tarnish his reputation, nothing will.

Edit: I'm tempted by this one, I admit. Its just around 15€ here. It shows how big he still is - they already published it even in Croatian. And new books here usually cost around 20€, so the price is pretty low compared to other new books, which suggests that they believe it will sell well.

Since we're on the subject: what are people's thoughts on publishing "found" or "discarded" or whatever you want to call them manuscripts after a writer has died? Does it matter if it's a family cash grab if the book is a masterpiece? Or on the flip side, would it be a loss for the world if some random family member with no taste started reading a masterpiece and tossed it because he found it dull? Would a few duds that the writer didn't want in the world tarnish their legacy in your eyes?
