Historian, social scientist, essayist and one of the most specialists in Brazil Empire, Brazilian Diplomacy and the transition to Republic of Brazil.
His body of works also encompasses History of Social Rights and Arts (Literature and Painting) by a historical perspective.
He was professor, according to his wikipedia, in Sorbonne, Stanford, Oxford among others.
He passed away today by Covid (yes, this f%ck desease is killing many people yet).

Ele tinha 83 anos e estava internado no Hospital Samaritano com Covid. José Murilo ocupava a cadeira nº 5 da ABL desde 2004.
