Mexican poet and translator José Vicente Anaya died a few days ago in México City. He was one of the best known poets of the infrarrealist movement. Roberto Bolaño (who was a member) immortalized this vanguardist and iconoclast group in his novel "The Savage Detectives".
Anaya was also an excellent translator, and we owe him some of the best versions of the beat poets in Spanish.
He will be missed.
