I'm not too far off fifty, always second guessing my opinions, and always - and thankfully without resort to tastemakers or websites that see fit to grade books at all - this to me is so lumpen, reductive and inimical to thinking that I really wouldn't know where to begin to explain myself to people, so i won't even try. I understand that for many people i know it's as valid as the star rating, 4/5 etc etc, but I cannot, do not want to fathom that. And there are plenty of people i know of my own age or older who overprivilege their own opinion on many a dubious or at least and very precisely self satisfied ground. So it's hardly the preserve of the young.
