Famous Mexican writer, (1932-2006). His novel The Secret Crypt (1968) is coming out in June in English translation. I have never heard his name mentioned before, and a quick search of the forum's archives yields no information. Has anyone read him and, if so, would you recommend him? Based on his Wiki bio, he might be a bit too avant-garde for my tastes, ☺

He is very avant garde, indeed. He has a big cult following here, most people go for Farabeuf first, his most famous book. His narrative technique is truly impressive, in my opinion, but he's definitely not my cup of tea.
