The book “Torto Arado”, by Itamar Vieira Junior, won the French Montluc Résistance et Liberteé2024 award. Translated by Jean-Marie Blas de Robles and published in France by Zulma, with the title “Charrue tordue” “Torto Arado” is also on the international list of the Booker Prize 2024.

The Montluc Resistance et Liberte award is presented annually by the foundation of the same name to an author whose work is a reflection on forms of resistance and freedom. With the award, Itamar Vieira Jr. will receive the value of 5 thousand euros.
In addition to the Brazilian, the Rwandan author Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse received a special award from the jury for the work "Le convoi" and the journalist Murielle Szac received a special mention for the novel "Tosca".
