It will come out November in Spanish translation by Anagrama. Los Errantes will be the title.I'm thrilled about this. Absolutely thrilled. Flights is the best book I've read in a while. Holy Molly.
And Bieguni, which I've heard great things about it. The Book of Jacob as well, but that might taka a couple of years to do so.Hopefully this gets her goddess Inanna book (Anna in the Catacombs) translated.
Finally, a laureate that I've actually met.
She had six, last time I checked. He, some 20. Guess we’re not giving up on it just as yetSide note: both Tokarczuk and Handke had a bunch of books checked out from the Nobel library!
Then go ahead, vote NO and erase this horrible affront we have inflicted on her. This poll above looks terrible. Everyone seems to like Tokarczuk. To be uncontroversial and likeable is an affront to the writer.
As I told Ludus in this same thread, Anagrama will be publishing Flights translation in November. Great timing! There appears to be a unanimous consensus as to Miss Tokarczuk deserving the Nobel prize. Good for her and good for Poland! I have yet to read any of her books. Where would you recommend me to start? Are there any Spanish translations and are they good, direct translations or are they retranslations from English?
Sorry, man, but she is not uncontroversial in her country (not even in her novels). Just read "Sobre los huesos de los muertos" (there is a Spanish translation) to see that, she doesn't shy out of controversy just to get people to like her. This poll above looks terrible. Everyone seems to like Tokarczuk. To be uncontroversial and likeable is an affront to the writer.
