I think funny that Damon Galgut is an author very discussed here and don't have a thread in his honour. ?

Well, he is a prodigious guy who wrote his first novel at 17 years old.

According to his page on wikipedia, he wrote (until the moment) 9 novels and 4 plays. There are 4 novels translated into Brazilian Portuguese.

Novels:

Plays:
  • Echoes of Anger (1983)[11]
  • Party for Mother[11]
  • Alive and Kicking[11]
  • The Green’s Keeper[11]

He was the winner of 2021 Booker Prize for his novel The Promise and the winner of 2004 Commowealth Writers Prize for his novel The Good Doctor.

Edit: Here is a thread for discussing of In a Strange Room.

Few of us here likes his writing. The Promise and The Good Doctor were really really good. I've red The Quarry and In a Strange Room, which to me wasnt as good as the other two..
I have ordered The Promise and so cannot say what I think but I thought both The Good Doctor AND The Quarry were good books. Jayan has impeccable taste, is extremely well-read, and is right 99% of the time. His judgment of The Quarry, however.... ?
