You Know I'm No Good is my favorite Amy Winehouse song. For the past two years I've been praying for her not to collapse. Shit.

Vintage film, impossible lips, tender-voiced, and terribly, terribly sad (or as Lana'd say, "Hollywood sad-core"). Gotta love it

Google dedicates a doodle to Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara), born on 5th September, 1946, exactly 65 years ago. A nice doodle, more elaborate of others that I've seen.
I'll remember Freddie with this terrific song, from which he took inspiration for his surname "Mercury":

My latest discovery. What a beautiful voice. In case anyone would be wondering what the instrument is, that you hear in the beginning which sounds like a monkey laughing, it's cuíca.

A new, upcoming album from Evanescence is going to be released on Oct 11--SO excited. They are probably my favorite band.

Sorry, Saint Vitus is an American metal band of the 'doom metal' subgenre, which basically translates to slow, plodding tempos and heavily detuned guitars. I'm listening to a different album of theirs on repeat mode each day this week because I am a bit of an anorak that way.

Hallow's victim,such fantastic album.

Now I suffer insomnia (half past four in the morning). Now i listen to this music:

(Yann Tiersen: "Summer 78")

I like such kind of music - quiet, calm, simple melody, although a little disturbing.

Been listening to Call Me Maybe for a few days. It's got such a catchy tune. Anyone knows this pet parody:?

What about me I love classical music. And mostly listen to it. Right now I’m listening to a recently found at onyxclassics site records of Beethoven’s compositions, performed by Maxim Rysanov, Kristina Blaumane and Jacob Katsnelson. And they are amazing as for me!

You can't go wrong with the Style Council during an 80s run, bouncy rhythms, catchy melodies, literate feel-good lyrics:

The giant towers over all
But from close distance,
he don't seem that big at all
In fact he's no more than you or I
Though we give him
far more power than his size.

Could such a land ever exist
Where those so many could be rendered oh, so weak? ...
For history will prove in time
That their laws today will be tomorrow's crime

but although I liked this, I'm not sure it quite captures the feelings of the inner city in the way TPSB's did. But we're in the 90s now and its all got a lot faster, that beat, and without the paranoia within the above PSB track, feels more "open" somehow, upbeat, whereas West End Girls conveys that whole bottled up aspect of London, and the craziness of the streets... re Pet Shop B's -- they looked like they were having fun making that video.adding clip

...but moving to a completely different type of band and sound, I think most of us would enjoy some of The Cure, any plundering of the 80s must include some of The Cure surely.

There is so much, but it's fortunate that we have Youtube I reckon before purchasing any CDs... both Pet Shop Boys and The Cure are on my list of future purchases. I've just picked up a Clash CD... I already have the Tears For Fears Album, ... TFT Big Chair but it's good to find an early video I'd not seen...

Well my favorite band is Linkin Park and his song New divide is really great square foot gardening
and I also listen Eminem ,Evanescence ,Inxs and last but not the least and greatest Michael Jackson.

There are a few very good INXS videos on Youtube I noticed t'other day... some are live performances...

nb- your INXS ref reminded me of finding a few videos, I missed the "Tears" early version one when I was looking for it a few weeks ago so I began with that, only found it by chance last week, a few other bands seem to have appeared recently too, early work, live work...
