Nah— he would've still been short.

Excellent (y)

I'm thinking Carson + Han Kang/Duong Thu Duong/Kadare, ... maybe Ulitskaya.

Hoping the number of submissions is healthy :) more the merrier.
And why Ulitskaya? And, for example, not Olga Sedakova or Lyudmila Petrushevskaya?

So, there is a ballot with the "username" "Anonymous". If anyone who is an actual member of this forum submitted that, please let me know, otherwise I'm ignoring the entry.

Could it be, that someone simply forgot to add the username, Bartleby? Maybe, if you published the choices "anonymously" , we are all voting openly anyway, the user would recognize his/her ballot and correct it?

Since I sent mine yesterday... Although I am pretty sure I have written down my pseudo on it, just to make sure, have you received it @Bartleby?

That's why I asked, just wanted to make sure. It seemed strange, but I hope it's just a silly mistake ?

@Bartleby
Any updates regarding the standings?
Still two writers neck and neck for third place?
Or is it all over but the crying?
Same thing as before, yes, except it's three writers for third place ?‍?️

I believe we have enough nominations already (34, not counting the "Anonymous" one), with all of the regulars having submitted their choices already, if I'm not forgetting anyone... I guess we can keep it open until the rest of the day, just in case?

Yes. I would wait until tomorrow since the deadline is "till the end of the week".

I'd give it til tomorrow. Saturday could be people's main opportunity to check the board, etc.

Or, we (meaning you) could post the results....
?

Either way I cannot right now, I am not home, my PC is not with me, where the notes are... On the other hand, seeing that for the voting of the 2023 award some even missed the deadline, coming here early Saturday with their choices, maybe it sounds reasonable Hayden's proposition... Anyway, when I come home I'll double check and compare with last year's noms to see if anyone is missing, specially those who are active on the forum in general ;)

Hijacking this thread to turn it into The 2024 Wolfie speculation thread.

By now the WWLF Academy must have already voted and they must have their shortlist.
Based upon discussions about 3 or 4 nominees, it looks like they have 4 candidates.
My guess as to who those 4 candidates might be:
Paulo Coelho,
Stefen King,
Rita Indiana,
Philip Roth.
That much being said, both Strauss are potential dark horses.

Oh.

Well.

In that case, how about if I make the announcement. (Just because I don't know the answer doesn't mean I can't make an announcement.)

( )

If by any chance a mistake was made and your entry isn't above, please let me know; also, feel free to count again the results ?

As it stands, though, we have two writers secured in first and second places, respectively:

Anne Carson
Lyudmila Ulitskaya

They should already be on our reading list for next year's prize! Congratulations to them!

Now also, as you can see, three authors are tied for third place:

Dương Thu Hương
Alexis Wright
Ismail Kadare

I believe, since having a shortlist of 5 names would perhaps be too much, we should vote for one of them to make this year's list, so above this page there is a poll for us to choose who will stay.

I think it covers all, thank you all again for participating in this process, and thank you for your patience! Here's hoping we can have fruitful discussions about these amazing writers' works :)
